Fès from the inside
Historic courtyards, neighbourhood ovens and workshops reveal how the medina actually functions.
Two imperial cities understood through kitchens, craft and domestic architecture, with a private Fassi family table at the centre when the hosts are available.
This is a considered starting point, not a rigid departure. The route protects the moments that need time, then adapts accommodation, food, walking and free hours around your party.
Historic courtyards, neighbourhood ovens and workshops reveal how the medina actually functions.
A hosted family meal at €32 per guest, with traditional dishes, conversation and the generosity of Fassi cooking.
The two medinas share deep traditions but move, cook and express themselves very differently.
Road times are stated honestly. Specific hotels, guides, meals and experiences are reconfirmed in your personal proposal before any payment.
Fès makes its first impression through a carved door, a quiet courtyard and the sounds beyond it.
Arrival. Meet your driver at Fès airport or station and transfer as close to the riad door as the medina allows.
Settle. Take tea in the courtyard and let the first hours remain free of obligations.
Evening. Choose dinner in the riad or ask the local team for a trusted address depending on arrival time.
A full medina day follows materials and makers instead of racing between monuments.
Morning. Enter Fès el-Bali with a private guide through madrasas, funduqs and the streets that feed each craft quarter.
Afternoon. Spend time with selected workshops—wood, brass, weaving, leather or ceramics—according to genuine interest.
Evening. Return to the riad roof or choose a small restaurant where the menu stays close to Fassi tradition.
Ingredients seen in the morning return in the evening as dishes, stories and gestures of welcome.
Morning. Walk food streets with a local eye: breads, olives, spices, preserved lemons and what is truly seasonal.
Afternoon. Keep time for rest, a hammam or a focused visit to a culinary workshop or artisan studio.
Evening. When available, share a private family dinner featuring Moroccan salads, a pastilla choice, one shared tajine, dessert, homemade cookies and mint tea.
A day outside the medina connects Roman agriculture, olive landscapes and imperial ambition.
Morning. Drive to Volubilis and explore the site with enough time to read the mosaics and city plan.
Afternoon. Continue to Meknès for a focused visit and lunch, shaped around what is accessible and worthwhile.
Evening. Return to Fès for a free final night; revisit a favourite place or stay quietly inside the riad.
A deliberate transition day gives the mind space to leave one imperial city before entering another.
Morning. Depart after breakfast by private vehicle or first-class rail, selected around comfort and the final route.
Afternoon. Arrive in Marrakech, transfer to your riad and take time to settle behind another very different door.
Evening. Make a light first pass through the medina or save its energy for tomorrow and dine close to the riad.
Marrakech is read through what it cooks, sells, restores and reinvents.
Morning. Begin with essential architecture, then enter the souks through spice, bread and everyday neighbourhood food.
Afternoon. Visit selected design or artisan addresses and keep space for a garden, terrace lunch or independent discovery.
Evening. Watch Jemaa el-Fna gather momentum, then end with a table chosen for food rather than spectacle.
One last breakfast, one protected transfer and several ways to continue.
Morning. Use any remaining time for the market, a slow breakfast or a purchase considered overnight.
Transfer. Your driver meets you for the private airport transfer at the time agreed in the final plan.
Extend. Continue to Essaouira for seafood and Atlantic light, or add the Atlas and a quieter mountain table.
