High Atlas by road
The route climbs through villages and mineral landscapes before dropping into the pre-Sahara.
A private journey from Marrakech through the High Atlas, kasbah country, Dades and Erg Chebbi, with enough time for the desert to feel like a place rather than a stop.
This is a considered starting point, not a rigid departure. The route protects the moments that need time, then adapts accommodation, food, walking and free hours around your party.
The route climbs through villages and mineral landscapes before dropping into the pre-Sahara.
Leave the roadside view behind and enter the ksar with someone who can read its architecture.
A second night avoids the rushed arrive-sunset-leave pattern and makes room for real stillness.
Road times are stated honestly. Specific hotels, guides, meals and experiences are reconfirmed in your personal proposal before any payment.
Land, exhale and let the city come to you rather than forcing a first-day checklist.
Arrival. Meet your driver at Marrakech airport and transfer directly to your selected riad or hotel.
Settle. Use the afternoon for the courtyard, rooftop or an easy neighbourhood orientation.
Evening. Choose an early dinner and rest; the road into the Atlas begins tomorrow morning.
The city falls away as the road climbs into switchbacks, stone villages and wide mountain views.
Morning. Cross the High Atlas with flexible photo stops and time to understand how the mountain communities live.
Afternoon. Reach Aït Benhaddou for a guided walk through the earthen ksar, then continue toward Ouarzazate.
Evening. Settle on the quiet side of kasbah country and watch the walls change colour at dusk.
Palm groves, crumbling kasbahs and red rock create a day of short discoveries rather than one long transfer.
Morning. Enter the Skoura palmery and visit a selected kasbah or walk a village path with local context.
Afternoon. Follow the Valley of Roses into Dades, stopping for viewpoints and a short guided valley walk.
Evening. Stay close to the gorge, where dinner and the last light are part of the landscape.
The route narrows beneath limestone walls, then opens dramatically toward the Sahara.
Morning. Drive the upper Dades viewpoints before continuing to Todra for a walk beneath the canyon walls.
Afternoon. Cross oasis towns and arid plateaus, arriving at Erg Chebbi with enough time to slow down.
Evening. Travel to camp by camel or 4×4, watch the dune sunset and dine beneath the desert sky.
A second desert day replaces the usual rush with people, landscape and silence.
Morning. Wake for sunrise if you wish, then visit an oasis community, music tradition or fossil landscape.
Afternoon. Return for lunch and quiet time; choose a 4×4 circuit, gentle walk or nothing at all.
Evening. Watch a second sunset from a different angle and sleep at camp or a desert-edge lodge.
Leave the sand for black-rock plateaus, market towns and one of Morocco’s great palm valleys.
Morning. Pass through Rissani and head west via Alnif, with a stop that reflects market days and local conditions.
Afternoon. Cross sparse desert landscapes toward Nkob and Agdz as the Draa palms gather along the river.
Evening. Stay in or near the palmery, where the pace is quieter than Ouarzazate and the night sky remains clear.
One final caravan landscape leads back over the Atlas and into the energy of the red city.
Morning. Walk through the palmery or visit a local ksar before leaving the Draa Valley.
Afternoon. Continue through Ouarzazate and cross the High Atlas with stops adapted to weather and road conditions.
Evening. Arrive in Marrakech with time for a final hammam, rooftop drink or celebratory dinner.
Finish without stress, or turn the loop into a longer Moroccan story.
Morning. Enjoy breakfast and free time according to your flight schedule.
Transfer. Travel privately to Marrakech airport with departure timing handled in advance.
Extend. Add Essaouira, two deeper Marrakech days or connect this route to Fès and northern Morocco.
The route is built around early road departures, meaningful stops and two nights close to Erg Chebbi. Summer heat, winter temperatures and date-specific accommodation are addressed in the written proposal.
Guide prices below are per person, based on boutique comfort and two people sharing a room. They are starting points; your written proposal fixes the exact scope and amount.
Tell us your dates, number of travellers, room preference and what matters most. We will return with a clear private proposal rather than a generic package.
